Oriental oven dish

Hey everybody,

Are you looking for easy and delicious? Then I got just the thing. My boyfriend and I tried this oven dish a couple of days ago and it’s fantastic. It’s takes a little bit longer to make, if you’re looking for a quick dish, but it’s so easy to make. And so tasty, so worth it!

Eastern oven dish
Serves 4

Preparation: 35 min
Baking: 30 min

ø Large oven dish

  • 1 kilo potatoes
  • 500 g shoarma meat
  • 2 onions
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1 red pepper
  • 5 cm ginger (peeled and grated)
  • 1 packet stir-fry vegtable mix
  • 1 packet nasi herb mix (for my followers abroad: such a herb mix isn’t available outside of the Netherlands. You can make it using: 1/2 tsp ginger powder, 1/2 tsp cumin, 1/2 tsp coriander powder, 1 tsp turmeric, 1 or 2 tbsp soy sauce)
  • 150 g graded cheese
  • 125 ml crème fraîche
  • 1 small packet prawn crackers

  1. Boil the potatoes well-done with little water with a pinch of salt
  2. Preheat the oven on 180 °C (355 F)
  3. Heat up oil in a wok and bake the meat for 2-3 min
  4. Add the onions, garlic, pepper and ginger and bake for another 2 min
  5. Mix the vegetable mix through and bake a few minutes until it’s just begins to be done
  6. Put 100 ml of water in the pan and add the nasi herb mix
  7. Bring to the boil and stir thoroughly
  8. Distribute this mixture over the bottom of the oven dish and let it cool for 5 min
  9. Mash up the potatoes and stir trough half of the cheese and the crème fraîche
  10. Divide the puree over the vegetable mix and sprinkle the rest of the cheese over it
  11. Crumble 50 g of the prawn crackers over the dish and press a bit down
  12. Bake in the oven for 30 min until the top is golden brown
  13. Serve with the rest of the prawn crackers
